English-French Interpreter

Westchester Land Trust is seeking a volunteer to help provide interpretation between French and English for a large group of attendees during its upcoming community conversation event. During this event, attendees will discuss a proposed green space along nearly three miles of the Hutchinson River; volunteers should have high proficiency in conservational French and knowledge of some environmental terms and phrases.

The volunteer interpreter may also be asked to assist with light setup (tables and chairs) and post-event translation, if needed. Refreshments will be provided and the dress code is business casual. Volunteers who are also passionate about environmental conservation and community engagement are especially welcome!

Express interest below to schedule a pre-event interview and project briefing with the volunteer coordinator.

About the event:
There is a 2.85-acre slice of land along the Hutchinson River, currently owned by the New York State Department of Transportation, that was brought to the attention of the Westchester Land Trust (WLT) by residents who saw its potential as a natural space for the community.
With funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Long Island Sound Study, WLT is working on an assessment of the land to better understand its possibilities for a place where neighbors can connect with nature.
Neighbors are invited to share their thoughts about this project, dubbed Kiana, in honor of the Stockbridge Munsee Mohican word that means "all of us." Refreshments from El Patio will be provided.
