Handy Volunteers for Repair Cafe - New Rochelle

Handy volunteers and those who have experience in trades or crafts are needed to join a roster of Repair Coaches for upcoming New Rochelle Repair Cafés. The Repair Café is a community event where neighbors work alongside Volunteer Repair Coaches to fix broken small appliances and household items that they would normally throw away. Repair Coaches are friendly people who have experience in repairing items like small appliances, woodworking and carpentry, electronics, lighting, furniture, toys, clothes, and costume jewelry. No formal training or experience is necessary, so even volunteers who like to tinker (or give advice on where to get something fixed) are welcome!

Volunteers will interact with their fellow neighbors, handy friends, and students learning more about trades—the main thing is to have fun and toy around with items to see what can get fixed! Spanish speaking volunteers are encouraged to express interest as well. Younger volunteers 12 and up can assist with facilitating the event; any youth volunteer under 16 must register alongside a parent of adult who is 18 or older.

The Repair Café's mission is to fix rather than dispose of beloved but broken objects and keep them in circulation rather than the landfill. Repair Café is a program supported by the City of New Rochelle.

This project requires volunteers to complete a separate form. To volunteer:
