Giving Tuesday Trail Maintenance at Ridge Road Park

Join Westchester Parks Foundation on the largest day of giving back globally, Giving Tuesday, for a trail maintenance project in preparation to launch the first-ever Adaptive Hike Program in Westchester County Parks.

Westchester Parks Foundation seeks to launch an adaptive hike program providing equitable access to nature and fitness for its community members. It will purchase two trail-capable, adaptive wheelchairs that will be available for community members to reserve in four different county parks. This program will allow individuals living with spinal cord injury, amputation, or paraplegia; those who are elderly; or those who have other disabilities the opportunity to immerse themselves in the trail system as any other able-bodied individual. This program will also offer caregivers the ability to continue their fitness goals, create a unique space to build relationships, and increase the physical and mental wellbeing of the community. With volunteer help, we can remove barriers and get people hiking!

Volunteers are needed to repair boardwalks and perform trail maintenance at Ridge Road Park. All supplies will be provided, but please bring your own water. Volunteers should wear clothes that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes.
