Opportunity Details
2022 Gardening Service Event for Teen Volunteers
Westchester Youth Alliance is hosting a service event at Hilltop Hanover Farms, and teen volunteers from Westchester County high schools are needed to help with a variety of tasks around the garden, including:
- Weeding
- Collecting and sorting native seeds for testing
- Identifying, harvesting, and washing ripe vegetables to be donated to Second Chance Foods
- Transplanting produce
- Feeding and watering animals
Volunteers are welcome to taste the food as they harvest. Volunteers should bring their own water bottle, bug spray, and sunscreen and wear sturdy shoes (not sandals). All produce harvested will be donated to local food pantries, and there will be free ice-cream for volunteers. This is the perfect opportunity for students and teens to acquire service hours while doing some good for the community.
