Art Cart Volunteers
The Aranow Art Program at Northern Westchester Hospital is looking for Art Cart Volunteers to assist with its Art Cart program. The Art Cart brightens patients' hospital stays by providing a selection of reproduction artworks (with 100 different images to choose from!) that fit into a custom frame on the wall across from each patient's bed. Volunteers visit each room with the Art Cart offering patients the opportunity to choose a print for display and to engage in conversation.
Requirements:
- Volunteers must be physically able to push the manual cart and have the dexterity and reach to remove/replace art prints
- Volunteers must have a sense of humor and the comfort level and ability to engage patients in conversation
- Volunteers must be up-to-date on immunizations and must either have a flu shot or wear a mask during flu season.
Schedule:
- Volunteers are needed for 2-hour shifts between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekdays, preferably Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
The Aranow Art program was inspired by Rita A. Aranow, who recognized the need for personally pleasing images in a patient's room. Instead of stark walls or irritating posters, she believed that patients would benefit from looking at an image that would foster a sense of well being. The program is a free service made possible by generous donor support. Express interest below!
