The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) is a volunteer organization that provides programs for youth, community groups, and prison inmates to learn new skills in order to deal with the conflicts in their lives. These programs are lead by volunteer Workshop Facilitators who engage participants in a series of experiential role-playing exercises that focus on building conflict resolution skills, such as affirmation, communication, cooperation, teamwork, and creative conflict resolution. Becoming a Workshop Facilitator requires no special qualifications; the only requirement is the desire to reduce violence in the community and a commitment to completing the training.
AVP is seeking Youth Workshop Facilitators to support resolution workshop programs with at-risk youth in their age group. Youth volunteers are trained and always in the presence of adults.
