Opportunity Details
Volunteers will write inspirational notes and cards for deployed service members. These notes will be included in care packages sent by United for the Troops to deployed service members letting them know someone is thinking of them. They're the first thing our servicemen and women see when they open their packages, and they remind our military how thankful we are. This is a great family-friendly activity. Break out the construction paper and crayons, volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate in this opportunity. Materials for this opprotunity are to be supplied by the volunteer, Volunteer New York! does not offer supplies for this.
Volunteers are encouraged to create the notes & cards on Friday, September 11th as part of the national 9/11 Day of Service.
The following week, volunteers will bring the completed notes & cards to a curbside drop-off at the Volunteer New York! office on either:
Volunteer New York! will take measures to reduce interpersonal contact and congregation, through methods such as: wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and sanitizing hands in between donation drop-offs. All volunteers must wear masks as they are curbside dropping off the Notes & Cards. This is part of the 9/11 Serve + Remember event.
