Grant Writer/Researcher

Seeking Grant Writer/Researcher

The Sharing Shelf is seeking a volunteer who can assist with grant research and writing.  We are looking for someone experienced with various research platforms who can help identify potential grant sources and help shape our grant applications.

  • This volunteer opportunity may turn into a part-time position over time.
  • Volunteering can be done off-site (remotely).

The Sharing Shelf of Family Services of Westchester is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide free clothing to children from families in financial need.  The Sharing Shelf collects new and gently used clothing for infants, youth and teens. The clothing is sorted by size, season and gender then distributed through nonprofits, schools and hospitals to children in need at no cost. The children we serve receive a week’s worth of seasonally appropriate clothing matched into outfits according to their sizing needs. In addition, The Sharing Shelf runs a free shopping day called Teen Boutique, twice a year, for girls ages 13-19.  At Teen Boutique, the girls are invited to choose and take home a week’s worth of clothing from thousands of donated clothing items as well as shoes and accessories. Finally, each summer, The Sharing Shelf runs a “Backpacks to School” initiative providing more than 1,400 new, filled backpacks to local children.  The Sharing Shelf was founded by a volunteer and relies on volunteers to achieve its mission.
