Volunteer at the 9/11 Memorial Service at Amy's Greenhouse
Each year, community members and former students gather for a memorial service on 9/11. Volunteers are needed to help at the service. Tasks include (1) welcoming attendees, (2) directing them to the auditorium for a short documentary about the greenhouse, (3) inviting them to get refreshments before heading outside to the greenhouse and courtyard, and (4) handing out flags to the attendees. This is a great volunteer opportunity for families, as the children who utilize the greenhouse during the school year are in Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade. About Amy's Greenhouse: Amy's Greenhouse is a living memorial to Amy O'Doherty who perished at the age of 23 on September 11th, 2001 at the World Trade Center. Amy was the daughter of Ms. Geraldine Davie, a now retired Pre-K teacher at Henry Barnard Early Childhood Center in New Rochelle, NY. The greenhouse attempts to transform sadness into a positive experience. #911Day16 #VolunteerNewRochelle
