IKEA Delivery Ride-Along Volunteers

Join the United Way of Westchester and Putnam's Impact Department in making a difference through its IKEA Donation Pickup and Drop-Off Program. Each Friday, United Way staff and a volunteer travel to IKEA locations in Brooklyn and Long Island to pick up donated home goods. The volunteer will help load items into cargo vans, return to the United Way office in White Plains, and package donations for distribution to local nonprofit partners serving those in need.

Volunteer requirements:

  • Assist with lifting and loading home goods; must be able to lift and carry items weighing 20-25 pounds from the cargo van into the office
  • Help package donations for community distribution
  • Be part of a hands-on effort to support local families and organizations

Time commitment:

  • Fridays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (may vary slightly based on location)
  • Volunteers can choose their own frequency (one-time, weekly, bimonthly, or monthly)

Transportation provided:

  • Volunteers will travel with staff from the United Way office to IKEA and back

The United Way of Westchester and Putnam is happy to work with the volunteers' schedules, whether they are looking to help just once or want to commit regularly. Express interest below!
