Social Events Facilitators
Volunteers are needed to help DOROT Westchester create welcoming, joyful spaces for older adults ages 60+ to connect and thrive during its community gathering events. Social Events Facilitators help foster a warm, inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels seen and valued. These monthly events are held at DOROT's office space or other local venues, with group sizes of approximately 10-20 people. Events last for 60-90 minutes.
Social Events Facilitators will:
- Welcome participants and help set a friendly tone for the gathering
- Encourage conversation and connection among attendees
- Lead simple opening and closing rituals to frame the experience
- Ensure snacks and beverages are available and enjoyed
- Help newcomers feel comfortable and integrated into the group
- Occasionally lead a light activity, game, or discussion
- Communicate with DOROT staff to share feedback and coordinate logistics
Requirements and qualifications:
- Enjoys conversations with new people, individually and in groups
- Comfortable leading games and other activities
- Aged 18+
- Available 2 hours every 1-2 months
