Recovery Team Volunteers

American Red Cross is looking for Recovery Team Volunteers to help support individuals, families, and communities (clients) who have experienced a disaster by helping them complete their casework and recovery plans. Recovery Team Volunteers should be kind, resourceful, knowledgeable, and able to demonstrate an interest in learning about community resource groups. Volunteers must be able to work successfully in demanding situations and in a team-oriented environment.

Since this is a customer service role, Recovery Team Volunteers must be committed to meeting the expectations and needs of clients, act with clients in mind, build and maintain effective relationships, and earn clients' trust and respect.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct client interviews (both initial interview and follow-up conversations)
• Assess qualifications for direct client assistance
• Use Red Cross Online Client Assistance Database
• Assist with recovery planning, problem-solving, and advocacy on behalf of clients
• Provide clients with information and referrals to community partners
• Option to work remotely

Time Commitment:

• One 8-hour shift (9 a.m.-5 p.m.) or two 4-hour shifts (flexible) during normal business hours Monday through Friday. Shifts are dependent upon program needs and may change
• Minimum commitment is 6 months to 1 year
