Wilderness Crew Days at Zofnass Family Preserve

The Westchester Wilderness Walk at Zofnass Family Preserve is a beautiful oasis of biodiversity—and Westchester Land Trust staff and volunteers work hard to keep it this way.

Project:
The Wilderness Crew will help Westchester Land Trust's Preserve Manager Ben and Conservation Technician Stella on Thursdays throughout the year to maintain the preserve's seven miles of trails, remove invasive species, and plant trees. Wilderness Crew volunteers will learn to identify native and invasive vegetation, fix common trail issues, gain new skills in habitat restoration, and connect with nature.

Accessibility:
Hiking distances will vary between one and five miles depending on tasks and trail conditions. Trail conditions include steep inclines, bare rock, steps, and stream crossings. No prior volunteer experience needed! Tools and light snacks will be provided.
There are no restrooms on site, so please budget extra time if you need to stop for facilities on your way; see this project location's special directions info for the location of the nearest restroom.

Safety:
Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and be registered as part of the adult's team. Please bring a water bottle and wear sun protection, long pants, and closed-toed shoes. Pants tucked into your socks are recommended to avoid ticks and poison ivy.

Registration is required, no drop-ins please. Sign up below!
