Volunteer Puppy Raisers - Putnam County

Guiding Eyes for the Blind is seeking Putnam County-based volunteers to help raise a Guiding Eyes puppy for 12-18 months. These essential volunteers provide the pup with the love, socialization, house manners, and basic obedience skills it will need to succeed in guide dog training. All Puppy Raisers are provided with a crate and a dedicated staff member to assist with training; veterinary expenses for the pup are covered by Guiding Eyes for the Blind for the duration of the puppy's stay.

Volunteer requirements:

• Mandatory training and weekly/biweekly classes
• Must live within 1 hour of Patterson where classes are held
• May have other pets in household
• No previous dog experience is required
• Youth Puppy Raisers are allowed with the support of an adult who will help build their skills, drive the raiser to outings, and assist with raising responsibilities. To register with a Youth Puppy Raiser, the adult must click "Express Interest with a Family, Group, or Team" below
