STEM Program Associate Team Managers

Destination Imagination is a global, volunteer-led nonprofit that hosts STEM/STEAM-focused creativity challenges for students. The organization is dedicated to inspiring K-12 students with projects that take them from imagination to innovation. Students work in teams of 2-7 to solve an open-ended STEM/STEAM challenge. The program is 100% student-driven, meaning the solutions to the challenges are created, conceived, and executed entirely by the students.

Destination Imagination is seeking Volunteer Associate Team Managers assist Team Managers with skills training and time management. (Associate Team Managers will not be involved in crafting the solution.) Teams get together 2-3 hours each week to work on their solutions, and then they showcase their solutions at local tournaments each spring. Top-ranking teams can advance to a statewide and international level of competition.

This is the perfect volunteer role for teachers, college students, parents, counselors, or retirees who have a passion for encouraging creative and critical thinking in students. College students studying teaching, marketing, science, communications, or other disciplines may be able to use this volunteer assignment for college credit.

Volunteer requirements:

  • Must be 18+
  • Must be organized and able to travel to local areas to work with Team Managers
  • Must pass a thorough background screening

Time commitment

  • Must be available to oversee team from September-March
  • Must commit to 3-5 hours each week
