Nonprofit Board Speed Dating

Connect > Serve > Grow

Local participants of the first Next Gen Nonprofit Board Development Boot Camp, organized by Volunteer New York! and Westchester Community Foundation, were invited to take part in the 3rd annual nonprofit board speed dating event on November 1, 2017.

As part of the Boot Camp, which ran throughout the fall, more than 50 Business and Civic leaders were first inspired by a panel of seasoned board members who presented the win-win of this level of volunteerism. Then after two focused Nuts & Bolts sessions presented by content experts, the participants analyzed a list of nonprofits interested in meeting prospects. They checked out websites and selected nonprofits to meet. All led up to tonight’s 3rd annual Board Speed Dating where we doubled the number of prospects and nonprofit participants.

This was the original vision of Markham Rollins III for whom the importance of board service is so important. Other key sponsors who supported the Westchester Community Foundation and Volunteer New York! were Nick Preddice, CEO, The Affinity Group LLC, TD Bank, RPW Group, Wilson & Son Jewelers, Chubb North America, Empire City Casino, Corporate Audio Visual Services, and Hospitality Resource Group, Inc.

And the nonprofits invited to participate in Board Speed Dating included A-Home, Abbott House, Ability Beyond, April's Child, Bedford Audubon Society, Blue Door, CAREERS Support Solutions, Child Care Council of Westchester, Inc., Clay Art Center, CLUSTER Community Services, Family Ties of Westchester, Inc., Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc., Hudson Valley Community Services, Huguenot & New Rochelle Historical Association, MAC Angels, Music Conservatory of Westchester, Sharp Again Naturally, St. Christopher's, Inc., Center For Aging In Place, Westchester Children's Association, WestFair Rides, Westhab, White Plains YOUTH BUREAU, Yes She Can, and YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester.
