As a College Access Coach, you are on the frontlines of educational equity as a tutor, role model, and mentor. Volunteer as an SAT coach to a small group of high school students in your community and guide them as they begin the college application process. YWCA Children’s Center at the New Rochelle Courthouse Needs Volunteers

YWCA Children’s Center at the Courthouse Needs Volunteers Help the YWCA of White Plains & Central Westchester provide a safe and loving environment for children while their caregivers are involved with issues at the courthouse in New Rochelle or White Plains. Volunteers will assist fulltime childcare center staff to engage children up to age 12 in arts/crafts and educational activities. Hours of operation are Monday–Friday, 9am to 5pm. Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of two hours a week. Skills: Ability to accept and engage with children who have a variety of behaviors and needs; willing to work as a team and commit to a schedule, but with flexibility. Spanish speaking is a plus, but not a must. A criminal background check is required. Immediate Need: Needs in New Rochelle are flexible. Jobs Transition Initiative is partnered with HOPE Community Services to deliver one-on-one volunteer career services to people going through transitional housing. We are in search of volunteers to meet one-on-one at HOPE’s location in New Rochelle. The objective is to get our clients a transitional job while they go through job training. Program Details -(2) 1-hour sessions of career counseling to a client per week -Volunteer will be assigned a client and begin counseling meetings to prepare them for their job training program. -Assess the client’s capability of completing the program and get to know their strengths and weaknesses. Also assess their goals and interests to find the best field/program for the client. -Review findings with the client and help identify shadow opportunities to expose their client to a potential field. -Assist client in applying for desired training program and track their progress once they begin, providing support as well. -Once the client has completed half of their program, the volunteer can start teaching resumé, interviewing, and job search skills to prepare them for the workforce. Minimum Qualifications Required • Masters Degree and/or 10+ years of professional work experience and/or advanced degree • Experience applying for multiple positions throughout career history • Experience working in different levels of ones own career • Proficiency of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint • Able to deliver counseling to a client • Leadership Skills – Strong Communication Skills

Community Volunteers Needed!

The New Rochelle Coalition against Violence (New Ro CAV) is looking for community volunteers of all ages. New Ro CAV is a group of dedicated New Rochelle residents organized to provide opportunities that are designed to reduce violence throughout the city. By exploring innovative and evidenced-based programming, New Ro CAV aims to meet the needs of residents at the intersection of trauma and resilience. New Ro CAV also works closely with IEY Middle School and will work with Trinity Elementary in 2018-2019. Volunteer opportunities include: organizing recreational events for youth, providing informational events such as documentary screenings at the library, advocacy and much more. We provide services and support to help get them on their feet and into healthy and productive lives. In this whimsical appeal, you will hand out baby bottles to your membership or for distribution to merchants and retailers in your area. For a pre-determined time frame (ie: one week) change is collected in the bottles. You might want to make a competition out of this by offering a prize for the most collected by your membership.
