The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination. The Nyack Branch NAACP covers Clarkstown, Haverstraw, Orangetown, and Stony Point in Rockland County, NY. The Nyack NAACP was founded in 1928. Since its inception, the Nyack Branch has remained vigilant in the struggle for freedom and justice and has acquired significant gains in education, youth work, housing, health, civic engagement and economic development. The Branch also has a great record for addressing education inequities, voting rights, housing discrimination, and racial profiling.
