2026 National Water Quality Month Clean-Up

In recognition of National Water Quality Month—and in an effort to help reduce the amount of trash that makes its way into the Hutchinson River—Hutchinson River Restoration Project is hosting a community cleanup, and it needs volunteer support!

Volunteers will help clean both the shoreline and nearby streets of the Bronx and Westchester that directly contribute litter and debris into the river system through storm drains and runoff. By targeting these areas, volunteers will help prevent pollution from entering the waterway and improve the health of the river and surrounding ecosystem.

Hutchinson River Restoration Project will provide gloves, grabbers, trash bags, water, and a light snack for volunteers.

What to wear:

• Boots
• Long-sleeved shirt
• Jacket
• Hat
• Gloves

Volunteers will make a direct impact on the Hutchinson River while learning more about the connection between our streets, stormwater systems, and local waterways. Every piece of trash removed helps protect wildlife, improve water quality, and create a cleaner environment for the community.
