2026 Annual Domestic Violence Awareness 5k Run
In partnership with the Westchester County Board of Legislators, Yonkers Community Action Program (YCAP) is seeking volunteers to assist with the Annual Domestic Violence Awareness 5K Run.
Shifts needed:
- Set-Up and Registration (7:30-9:30 a.m.): help set up the registration table, register runners, and distribute bibs
- Course Cheerleaders (9:30-10:30 a.m.): cheer on runners and distribute water along the course route
- Snacks and Awards (10:30-11:15 a.m.): distribute refreshments to runners, assist with handing out awards to medalists, share information about YCAP's services to attendees
- Clean-Up (11:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m.): assist with clean up of the park facilities
Volunteer requirements and event details:
- This event takes place rain or shine
- Volunteers must be able to stand for 2+ hours
- Volunteers should wear sunscreen, bug spray, and comfortable clothing and sneakers
- Volunteers must be 18+ to sign up; those ages 14-17 may be signed up "As a Family, Group or Team" as part of an adult's team
- Volunteers of all shifts are invited to stay for a complimentary lunch between 11:15 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Volunteers who speak Spanish are welcome!
