Volunteer Gardeners

Family Services of Westchester is seeking volunteers to give some TLC to two Head Start gardens—one in Mount Vernon and the other in Port Chester. These gardens are a welcoming green space where students can connect with nature as well as to learn about healthy eating and how plants grow. The students and their families have planted seeds in the garden beds, but since the centers are closed in July and August, they need some help maintaining the gardens over the summer.

Volunteer gardeners are needed to monitor and maintain the gardens over the summer while the students are out of school. Tasks include:

  • Watering the plants
  • Weeding the gardens
  • Alerting staff of any needs or maintenance

Help cultivate growth, learning, and beauty for the next generation; express interest below!
