College Access Mentors for Teens
The Community Resource Center's College Access program aims to provide first-generation and immigrant youth with a mentor to demystify and simplify the college application process.
College Access Mentors will:
- Mentor high school juniors and seniors throughout the college application process
- Be available to answer questions related to college application timelines or provide resources to support their research
- Help their mentees to explore their interests related to their academic studies and future careers
- Provide advice and experience based on their own college application experience
- Attend training sessions related to the current landscape of the college application process
- Meet their mentee in person for at least 1-2 hours per month
Skills and Qualifications:
- Remain professional while working with diverse client populations
- Have a passion for social justice and immigrants' rights
- Ability to consistently communicate with student and parents through email
- Prior experience volunteering with nonprofit organizations is preferred
- Have a collaborative and supportive nature
- Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
