College Access Mentors for Teens

The Community Resource Center's College Access program aims to provide first-generation and immigrant youth with a mentor to demystify and simplify the college application process.

College Access Mentors will:

  • Mentor high school juniors and seniors throughout the college application process
  • Be available to answer questions related to college application timelines or provide resources to support their research
  • Help their mentees to explore their interests related to their academic studies and future careers
  • Provide advice and experience based on their own college application experience
  • Attend training sessions related to the current landscape of the college application process
  • Meet their mentee in person for at least 1-2 hours per month

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Remain professional while working with diverse client populations
  • Have a passion for social justice and immigrants' rights
  • Ability to consistently communicate with student and parents through email
  • Prior experience volunteering with nonprofit organizations is preferred
  • Have a collaborative and supportive nature
  • Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
