2026 Wounded Warrior Project Carry Forward 5K Run and Walk

The mission of Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) is to honor and empower wounded warriors. The Carry Forward® 5K is an opportunity to honor warriors, fuel connection, and power life-changing programs.

Volunteer Overview:
Volunteers will play a key role in bringing race day to life and creating a positive experience for all participants while supporting Wounded Warrior Project's mission to serve warriors and their families.

Time Commitment:
Volunteers should plan to arrive by 7 a.m. for a brief orientation and assignments. Most roles will conclude by approximately 1 p.m. following race completion and event breakdown. By committing to volunteer, volunteers agree to support the event from start to finish.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting with check-in and registration
• Supporting set-up and event breakdown
• Directing participants along the race course
• Providing general participant support and guidance
• Water/snack distribution
• Medal distribution

Volunteer Roles:

• Registration & Check-In: welcome participants, assist with packet distribution, and direct participants to the start line
• Course Support: guide runners/walkers along the race route and help ensure a safe route. Volunteers in these roles should also be excited and willing to cheer for participants as they run/walk the course
• Set-Up & Breakdown Crew: assist with event set-up before the race and clean-up afterward (tents, placing direction signs, etc.)
• Medal Distribution: hand out medals to participants as they come across the finish line

Additional details:
Registration ends 24 hours prior to event start time. Volunteers should be able to lift 15 pounds, be on their feet for long periods of time, be enthusiastic and positive, and wear weather-appropriate clothing as this event is rain or shine. Sign up for a shift below!
