Literacy Tutors for Adult English Learners

Literacy Solutions NY is seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteers to tutor adult English language learners throughout the Rockland County community. Literacy Tutors will help immigrant adults build the English skills they need to thrive—whether it's communicating with their child's school, navigating daily tasks, or preparing for citizenship. No teaching experience is required, and Literacy Solutions NY provides comprehensive online training, ongoing support, and a student match based on the volunteer tutor's schedule and interests.

Volunteer role:

  • 1-2 hours per week of tutoring
  • Sessions held in-person at a local public library in Rockland County
  • Work with motivated adult learners eager to improve their English
  • Make a meaningful, lasting impact in someone's life

A tutor's time and compassion can open doors for a learner—and strengthen our broader community. Express interest below to help empower immigrant adults through English literacy, one lesson at a time.
