Household Essentials Packing and Distribution

New Beginnings of Westchester is a nonprofit dedicated to helping homeless individuals, single-parent households, and families transitioning into permanent housing. It offers essential basic household supplies that help its clients establish a stable, dignified home life.

Volunteers are needed to assist with packing and distributing household essentials.

Activities may include:

• Sorting, organizing, and packing all new household items such as bed linens, towels, dishes, silverware, and cookware
• Assisting when the social service agencies pick up their clients’ items from the New Beginnings Ossining facility
• Helping to replenish inventory so items are neat and ready for packing and pickup

Time commitment:

• Volunteers are asked to commit to 3-4 hours per month on Monday and/or Thursday mornings
• Consistent and reliable participation is appreciated. Flexibility in schedule is possible

Volunteer requirements:

• Empathetic and respectful to New Beginnings' social work partners and their clients
• Good at organizing, with attention to detail
• Comfortable lifting, carrying, or transporting boxes and laundry baskets (about 20 pounds)
• Packing bags of available non-perishable groceries for distribution to clients
• Available on Mondays and/or Thursdays during hours of operation
• Reliable and team-oriented

Through this activity, volunteers will engage in important, hands-on service and enable individuals and families to start fresh in their new homes. Volunteers will work alongside a passionate team committed to making a meaningful impact locally in Westchester County. Express interest below!
