Patient Advocacy Volunteers

Westchester Community Health Center's Patient Advocacy Volunteers assist its Patient Advocacy team with office and administrative work, including data entry, filing, telephones, mailings, research, and reports. Volunteers are needed in health centers in White Plains, Mount Vernon, and Yonkers. (Volunteers can determine their preferred location.)

Volunteer responsibilities:

  • Basic data input
  • Assist with office procedures
  • Help with filing
  • Send out letters
  • Answer telephones to take messages and triage calls
  • Deliver items to other departments

Skills:

  • Excellent customer services skills
  • Ideally bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Ability to walk throughout the health center

Time commitment and training:

  • This is an ongoing role requiring a minimum 3-month commitment and a weekly 2-3 hour shift (weekday daytime)
  • Orientation and training provided (customer service, escalation protocols, privacy)
  • Health screening/immunization clearance may be required per WCHC policy
