BioBlitz at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation

Volunteers are needed to help park staff identify as many species as possible in the meadows at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. Participants will use iNaturalist to take photos of insect, plant, and animal species they find and report them to a shared project.

Stop by anytime between 9 a.m.-4 p.m., with guided walks leaving at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Participants will need to be able to take photos and sign up for a free iNaturalist account (uploads do not need to be completed in the field so mobile data is not required, though use of the app is encouraged).

What to know:

• Dress for the weather; check the forecast before leaving
• Wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and items that can get dirty
• Bring your own reusable water bottle

Weather/cancellation policy:

• Volunteers will work in most weather, including cold, heat, and light precipitation, so please dress accordingly! Westchester Parks Foundation will cancel the project if the weather seems like it may affect the safety of its volunteers.
• In the case of inclement weather, the project may be cancelled up to an hour before the project start time. If you do not receive a cancellation email from Westchester Parks Foundation or Volunteer New York! before then, the project is still taking place.
