Graphic Designer

Living Artist Society is dedicated to empowering communities to achieve positive social and economic impact through the arts. The Robeson in Peekskill Project is one of its key initiatives dedicated to commemorating the 1949 Peekskill Riots and celebrating the enduring legacy of Paul Robeson. Through community events, educational outreach, and digital storytelling, Living Artist Society seeks to inspire conversations on racial justice, civil rights, and collective memory.

The Robeson in Peekskill Project seeks a volunteer Graphic Designer to help develop impactful materials for its website, social media, and events with a unified visual identity and design.

Volunteer duties and responsibilities:

  • Create print and digital graphics (flyers, event promos, social media posts)
  • Create mockups and visual assets for updates to the website
  • Collaborate with web developer and marketing volunteers
  • Share input on website layout and design elements
  • Ensure a consistent visual brand (colors, fonts, layout)
  • Deliver work according to agreed timelines

Volunteer skills and qualifications:

  • Graphic and web design experience (Canva preferred)
  • Strong sense of visual style and layout
  • Attention to detail and commitment to deadlines
  • Background in history, cultural studies, arts and activism (optional)
  • Based in or familiar with Westchester County and/or the Hudson Valley (optional)

Location:

  • Remote (Westchester County/Hudson Valley area preferred)

Time Commitment:

Training/support:

  • Orientation provided
  • Ongoing communication with project coordinator and web team
  • Clear goals and deadlines will be established

Volunteers must be 18+ and be prepared to share links or samples of relevant design work. Express interest below!
