Solutions Not Suspensions Advocacy Day
The Solutions Not Suspensions Act S.134 (Jackson)/A.118 (Solages) aims to implement age-appropriate, circumstance-informed disciplinary practices in schools that hold students accountable while also offering opportunities for restoration. The proposed Solutions Not Suspensions (SNS) Bill will add age and time limitations to suspensions, mandate out-of-school instruction, and incorporate the use of restorative practices such as peer-to-peer mediation, counseling, and school support conferences. This policy would add to an overall effort of dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline.
