Zero-Waste Garage Helpers
The Take-It-or-Leave-It ("TILI") Garage is a free swap event that takes place every Sunday, weather permitting, in Hastings-on-Hudson. It is an effort by Hastings-on-Hudson's Zero Waste Advisory Task Force to repurpose usable items in order to reduce waste as well as to help out those who could use free items for their homes.
Volunteer support is needed to keep this community space running smoothly. Volunteers are needed to place incoming items in the correct area of the garage, help manage and sort the materials received, move tables, and help with set-up and break-down.
Volunteers must:
- Be able to perform manual labor, such as carrying boxes and heavy household items, stocking shelves, cleaning, and dusting
- Be able to stand for a prolonged period of time, direct traffic, and more
- Practice safety protocols and follow the instructions of supervisors and trainers at all times
- Be prompt and available for the Sunday shift(s) they sign up for (10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. or 1-3:30 p.m.)
