Archive Local History

The New Rochelle Public Library maintains the largest repository of archival materials and resources related to the community’s history. It is the only collection of New Rochelle local history that is indexed and fully accessible to the general public.  The Clippings File contains some 55,000 items, obtained from local newspapers, magazine clippings, New York Times items, obituaries, local associations and art show programs, etc, since the 1920s. The clippings are organized in categories and are located in the bank of file cabinets outside the Local History Room.

Volunteers are needed to assist the archivist by filing newspaper clippings in the corresponding folders. Help maintain New Rochelle's rich history.

Lunch will be provided and hours can be adjusted as needed.

This project is a part of 9/11: Serve + Remember.
