2023 Summer Reading Buddies Team Leaders - Yonkers
Each summer, Family Service Society of Yonkers hosts its Summer Reading Buddies program that pairs volunteers with young students to help them improve their reading literacy and comprehension. Volunteer Team Leaders are needed to help this program run smoothly. Volunteer Team Leaders will assist with the following tasks:
- Greeting families and volunteers as they enter the library
- Keeping attendance schedules for families and volunteers
- Matching students with their volunteer reading buddies
- Helping to select books and distribute program materials
- Directing students to snack areas and distributing snacks
- Answering questions regarding the program, as needed
Team Leaders will need to be available on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. from July 5 to August 9; Team Leaders will be asked to attend at least 11 sessions. Volunteers with bilingual (Spanish/English) communication skills are encouraged. Express interest below!
