Hospital Gift Shop Volunteers

Northern Westchester Hospital is looking for Gift Shop Volunteers to help hospital staff and customers find the perfect gift for their loved ones.

Responsibilities:

• Understand and follow all gift shop policies and procedures
• Maintain gift shop inventory
• Stock shelves and check merchandise daily for broken or outdated items; return items to the Volunteer Experience office for manufacturer credit
• Ensure that the Volunteer Experience office is informed of all needed supplies in a timely manner
• Answer the phone and process phone orders, following the procedures for phone orders
• Attend all mandatory gift shop meetings
• Ensure cleanliness of work area and storage areas

Requirements:

• Must be 18+
• Must complete mandatory training
• Must make weekly commitment of 2-4 hours
• Must complete volunteer application and maintain up-to-date health and vaccine requirements
• Previous experience in retail customer service a plus
• Friendly, helpful demeanor; able to work well with both volunteers and customers
• Comfortable working with the register (POS) and credit card machines
• Comfortable with opening and/or closing of the register (POS) including the credit card machine
• Able to meet the physical demands of standing for long time periods, walking throughout the shop, bending, and lifting items up to 10 pounds
