Front Desk Greeters

Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center is looking for Volunteer Greeters to help welcome patients and visitors to the health center. Greeters will treat visitors with courtesy and respect and direct them in response to their initial questions regarding the Health Center or services provided.

Greeter responsibilities:

• Assess patients and visitor's initial needs and direct them to the appropriate departments and service providers at the health center
• Assist patients and visitors in obtaining wheelchairs and guide them to access transportation services
• If patients require bilingual services, connect them with a translator to ensure culturally sensitive services are provided
• Keep entrance and main lobby clear and unobstructed, monitor overall appearance of the entrance and main front waiting areas, and maintain an orderly work environment
• If spills or unattended objects and personal property are observed, contact maintenance or security.
• Work collaboratively with frontline departments and staff from all departments to ensure optimal patient experience within the facility
• Protect patient confidentiality in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
• Understand protocol and responsibilities during all emergency code and emergency events
• Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professional manners with patients and visitors
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills:

• Work collaboratively as part of a team as well as be willing to take initiative independently
• Experience working in a customer service environment
• Must have a friendly and professional phone etiquette and good listening skills
• Bilingual a plus (Spanish/English)
• Basic computer knowledge in MS Word and other applications
• Background check required
• Must hold high school or GED diploma and experience in customer services or related positions
