2021 Youth Advisory Council for Girls (Ages 13-18)

One World Girl's Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is comprised of local girls in grades 8-12 who want to develop their leadership skills and become changemakers in their communities through One World Girl's school-year mentorship program.

OWG is looking for girls to join the YAC team for the 2021-2022 school year (September 2021-June 2022). To register: girls ages 13-18 should select "Express Interest" below by Friday, September 17!

Meetings:

The Youth Advisory Council holds monthly 90-minute mentoring meetings on Zoom (Wednesday evenings, from 7-8:30 p.m.: September 22, October 20, November 17, December 15, January 19, February 16, March 16, April 27, May 18, and June 15), as well as 6 virtual workshops on various leadership topics to be scheduled at mutually convenient times. The Council also gathers 2-3 times in person, including at its annual empowerment day on Broadway in New York City. This year, the Council will be seeing the smash hit musical, SIX.

Youth Advisory Council Responsibilities:

• Guiding OWG on programming decisions and implementations
• Developing and posting content on social media
• Co-hosting OWG's community empowerment events
• Mentoring Junior Youth Advisory Council members
• Creating a "Take Action" community project
• Assistant teaching at summer arts camps
• Recruiting other changemakers

Time commitment:

• Approximately 5-6 hours a month
