2021 Junior Youth Advisory Council for Girls (Ages 10-12)

One World Girl's Junior Youth Advisory Council (JYAC) is a group of upper elementary and middle school girls (grades 5th-7th) in the New York Metropolitan area who want to develop their leadership skills and become changemakers in their communities through One World Girl's school-year mentorship program.

OWG is looking for girls to join the JYAC team for the 2021-2022 school year (September 2021-June 2022). Parents/guardians: please select "Express Interest With a Family, Group, or Team" to create your team and register yourself and your female youth volunteer (ages 10-12 only) for this project by Friday, September 17!

Meetings:

The Junior Youth Advisory Council holds monthly 90-minute mentoring meetings on Zoom (Tuesday evenings, from 7-8:30 p.m.: September 21, October 12, November 9, December 14, January 11, February 8, March 8, April 12, May 10 and June 14), as well as 6 virtual workshops on various leadership topics to be scheduled at mutually convenient times. The Council also gathers 2-3 times in person, including at its annual empowerment day on Broadway in New York City. 

Junior Youth Advisory Council Responsibilities:

• Guiding OWG on programming decisions and implementations
• Helping organize and lead OWG community events
• Using your voice in blog writing and social media postings
• Planning a "Take Action" group project to positively impact the community
• Participating in ongoing mentoring meetings with OWG's high school Youth Advisory Council

Time commitment:

• Approximately 4-5 hours a month
