The Family Service Society of Yonkers (FSSY), of which JCY-Westchester is a division, is currently looking for bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteers to join its e-tutor program to help elementary school-aged children in Ossining who are new to the U.S. with their schoolwork.
The purpose of the FSSY e-Tutoring Program is to assist children with their schoolwork on a one-to-one basis. FSSY pairs students selected by their teachers and school administrators with members of its corps of volunteers. E-Tutors work with individual students once per week for one hour. E-Tutoring is done on the Zoom video meeting platform using FSSY Zoom lines, and all calls are monitored by Program Coordinators for quality and the security of the children.
E-Tutors meet with their students and tutor them on various subjects, such as reading and math, depending upon the needs of the school. Internet access, a computer, and basic knowledge of Zoom are required; express interest below!
