Big Brother Youth Mentors

Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for male volunteers to become a Big Brother youth mentor to a disadvantaged Westchester boy. Becoming a Big Brother is both fulfilling and easy; just six hours a month can make a difference in a child's life. Littles can join their Big Brothers in activities such as:

  • Shooting hoops
  • Playing board games
  • Going to the movies
  • Sharing a pizza
  • Taking a walk in the park
  • Hanging out together and talking
  • Riding bikes

Youth Mentors are provided with a thorough orientation and training in building mentor relationships and working constructively with youth. Ongoing support by dedicated staff is provided to the mentor, mentee, and mentee's family. Big Brother male mentors are especially needed. Big Brothers Big Sisters is accepting applications, making matches, and interviewing in-person and via web conferencing.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Westchester County (BBBS), an affiliate of BBBS of America, helps at-risk children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships. Bigs and Littles have fun together—and create memories that last a lifetime. Big Brothers Big Sisters calls it "Little moments… Big magic." Research points to the powerful, positive, lasting impact Bigs have on children's lives: Littles are 52% less likely to skip school, 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs, and more likely to get along with their families and peers.
