AmeriCorps Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator

A Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator is needed for a one-year AmeriCorps and Vista position to serve Mental Health Association of Rockland's Compeer program. The Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator's primary mission will be to create and implement a volunteer recruitment plan; the recruited volunteers will then be matched with mentally ill clients.

Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator duties include:

• Create a volunteer recruitment plan that will live on after the coordinator's term of service; develop a strategy to attract and recruit volunteers that can be matched 1:1 with a referred client
• Create an Advisory Board, assess where current volunteers are coming from and the challenges in recruiting them, and identify the skills and experience desired in a volunteer
• Understand the Compeer model through trainings on mental health and mental illness
• Set up a volunteer focus group to gain better understanding as to why people volunteer with Compeer
• Set up outreach systems and build partnerships with community organizations, businesses, churches, and civic groups to create targeted marketing materials and to spread the word about the need for volunteers
• This position can be performed virtually, with the possibility of visiting the MHA of Rockland location in Valley Cottage
