Create Literacy Kits - Sponsored by Webster Bank

Sponsored by Webster Bank: The Feelings Book by Todd Parr illustrates a wide range of feelings that are easily relatable to children through the silly examples and vibrant illustrations. It is a great book to encourage awareness and identification of feelings. By creating the Feelings Puppets Literacy Kit, volunteers will provide a way for a child to act out themes from the book while also identifying feelings within themselves, helping to give them the tools for expressing themselves. Volunteers will create literacy kits by laying out, cutting, and pasting pre-printed objects onto laminate sheets, and then create a kit of each of the objects. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old or 12 years old with an adult to participate in this event. All children 12 to 17 years old must be with an adult at all times and fill out a youth waiver.

PARKING: There is free parking for volunteers at the Westchester County Center. Let the parking attendant know you are there to volunteer for the 9/11 event. This project is a part of 9/11: Serve + Remember.
