2026 9/11 Day Community Clothing Sorting

The Sharing Shelf is Westchester County's clothing bank for children; it was founded to combat clothing insecurity and meet basic material needs among low-income children and families in the community. It collects new and gently used clothing for infants, children, and teens. The clothing is then sorted by quality, size, season, and gender before being distributed to local, low-income children at no cost through nonprofits, schools, hospitals, and community groups in Westchester County.

The Sharing Shelf is seeking volunteers to assist with its clothes-sorting project for the annual 9/11 Day of Service. This is a great opportunity for new volunteers to join its volunteer team, whether they are looking for a one-time opportunity or an ongoing commitment. All volunteers will be trained to sort clothing.

Volunteers must be 18+ to sign up alone; volunteers ages 14-17 may be signed up as part of an adult's family, group, or team. Pre-registration is required and no walk-ins are allowed.
