Youth Development Interns

Boys and Girls Club of Mount Vernon is seeking Youth Development Interns to assist with its programs. Roles include supporting both programmatic and administrative tasks. Interns must be 18+ and shifts are available Monday to Friday from 3-6:30 p.m. Interns can choose which days are most suitable for them, but they are required to commit to a minimum of 2 days a week.

Key Roles:

• Program
  • Administer and manage kids in After-School, Summer, and Teen programs
  • Assist with Youth Development and the Youth of the Year (Y.O.Y) program
  • Assist with the Development & Community Service opportunities for members
  • Promote academic excellence for members
  • Explore and coordinate cultural activities for members
• Administration
  • Assist the front office with administrative functions
  • Enter data in the donor database and member tracking database
  • Work with the front office to process and file all member applications
  • File accounting and administrative paperwork
  • Assist with administering and coordinating the National Youth Outcome Initiative (NYOI) surveys

Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist in other Program areas and duties as assigned by the Director of Outcome Measurement
• Work with Safety & Security to resolve member discipline issues
• Assist with Club Power Hour (homework help)
• Assist with kitchen preparation and distribution of meals to members

Relationships:

• Internal: maintain close daily contact with the Director of Outcome Measurement and other club staff to receive/provide information, discuss issues, instruct, mentor, and counsel
• External: maintain contact with parents/guardians as necessary to meet member needs

Skills Knowledge:

• Strong verbal communication skills
• Group facilitation skills
• Ability to manage projects
• CPR and First Aid certifications (preferred; Boys and Girls Club will provide if needed)
