Garden Bed Building
Family Services of Westchester is seeking volunteers to help bring a garden to life at one of its Head Start Centers in Mount Vernon. This initiative aims to create a welcoming green space where students can connect with nature upon their return to school in September as well as learn about healthy eating and how plants grow. The students and their families will participate in the care for the garden.
Volunteers will assist in three ways:
- Constructing three garden beds
- Preparing the soil
- Planting a variety of seeds
Through this hands-on experience, volunteers will not only contribute to the beautification of the school environment but also play a key role in fostering an appreciation for nature and sustainability among young learners. Help cultivate growth, learning, and beauty for the next generation! Groups and individuals alike are encouraged to express interest!
