Opportunity Details

2021 American Battlefield Trust Park Day

Each year during American Battlefield Trust National Park Day, volunteers across the country help their local historical sites with maintenance projects large and small. Volunteers don't need any experience to participate and their support preserves local history, making a big impact for years to come.

Thomas Paine Cottage is looking for help with simple repairs to its one-room schoolhouse, as well as removing shrubbery, preparing flower beds, general ground maintenance, painting, power washing, and repairs to its outdoor shed.

All COVID requirements will be followed: volunteers must wear masks and stay socially distanced from other groups of volunteers not in their "pod." Volunteers must bring their own work gloves and protective eye wear, and they are welcome to bring their own tools. Thomas Paine Cottage will supply tools, extra masks, rubber gloves, and hand sanitizer on site. Water and snacks will also be provided, as well as official Park Day water bottles.

Volunteers are also encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations for the Fuller House Center, which helps provide families throughout Westchester with food and supplies.
