The YPAC is an auxiliary board of the Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter, and this group consists of millennials committed to engaging their communities in the fight against Alzheimer's. The YPAC provides opportunities for young professionals to become active members while serving their community. Group members will develop strong leadership and philanthropic skills that will serve their personal and professional lives. This group is intended for those with a personal connection to the disease, as well as those who do not have a connection but would like to learn more and contribute in the fight against it. VCS Counselor

VCS Inc. (formally Volunteer Counseling Services) provides accessible and affordable counseling services and family support programs. VCS is seeking adult applicants of all ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identities, as well as those who are bilingual (greatest need is Spanish and Creole) and bicultural, to participate in its Volunteer Counselor Training Program. There are no formal education requirements. VCS looks for those who are open, willing, and motivated to learn. Training is offered once a year. There is a fee for the training. Sexual Assault, Abuse and Victims Empowerment (SAAVE) Advocates

Westchester Medical Center's Sexual Assault, Abuse and Victims Empowerment (SAAVE) Program offers supportive, victim-centered, trauma informed advocacy services for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, trafficking, stalking, and all forms of sexual misconduct. These services include a 24/7 daily rape crisis hotline, as well as accompaniment for victims through forensic rape exams at Westchester Medical Center. Westchester Medical Center is seeking volunteers to become certified SAAVE Advocates. Training and an onboarding process is required. SAAVE training may be completed online and on the volunteer's own timeline; volunteers will need access to a computer and the Internet. Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older Must complete a 30-hour pre-service curriculum and onboarding process Must have access to a computer and Internet to complete training Commit to a year of service and monthly shifts staffing SAAVE’s 24-hour rape crisis hotline and/or providing accompaniment to victims Attend monthly meetings and trainings for continued education A valid driver’s license and bilingual skills in English and Spanish are a plus

Knit or Crochet Baby Blankets and Hats

Volunteers who love to knit or crochet are needed to help make baby blankets and hats for the New York Milk Bank. These cozy items will be included in gift baskets that are delivered to new moms. Blankets should be just large enough for a stroller or car seat (about 30 x 30 inches or 36 x 36 inches). All colors are accepted, but gender-neutral is always appreciated. Matching hats should be sized for newborns to one-year-olds. The New York Milk Bank is the first comprehensive nonprofit milk bank based in New York State. It collects milk from carefully screened donors, pasteurizes it, and distributes it to infants in New York State and the surrounding area.
