If you are between 18-44, in good health, and willing to help any patient in need, you can join the Be The Match® Registry. A consent form and a cheek swab are all you need to join the registry. Why join? Thousands of patients with leukemia or other life-threatening disease depend on the Be The Match® Registry, to find a life saving donor. 70% of patients needing a marrow transplant do not have a matching donor in their family. Each year, 10,000 patients' only hope for a cure is a transplant from someone outside their family. This project is a part of 9/11: Serve + Remember. About New York Blood Center: Established in 1964, New York Blood Center (NYBC) is one of the largest community-based, nonprofit blood collection and distribution organizations in the United States. Through the integrated efforts of our blood services operations, NYBC annually provides some one million blood components to nearly 200 hospitals throughout New York City, New Jersey, Hudson Valley, Long Island, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. #911Day16
