Disaster Volunteer Preparedness: 2-1-1 Training

United Way's 2-1-1 is a free, confidential, multilingual information and referral helpline open 365 days a year. After Hurricane Sandy, 2-1-1 received hundreds of calls each day from people looking for help with disaster related services. 

Are you interested in helping after a disaster? Join us on Monday, January 19th to be pre-trained on United Way's 2-1-1 system. Volunteers will expand their knowledge of community needs and disaster related resources.   

A volunteer will be trained on the following: 

  • How to answer incoming calls for disaster related services
  • How to assess caller's needs and make accurate referrals to appropriate services
  • How to document required information on intake
  • How to use the phone system
The building is located on Central Park Ave in White Plains next door to Petco and across the street from Verizon Wireless).
