Young Professionals Program, United Nations Association of the USA Westchester Chapter

The United Nations Association of the United States of America is dedicated to educating, inspiring and mobilizing Americans to support the principles and vital work of the United Nations, strengthening the United Nations system, promoting constructive United States leadership in that system, and achievement of the goals of the UN Charter. The Westchester Chapter supports this mission through advocacy, public programs, educational outreach including support for the UNA-USA national high school essay contest, the Model UN program, and UNA Student Alliances, and through emphasizing the local and global aspects of peace, security, human rights and development issues. We support fulfillment of the Eight United Nations Millennium Development Goals, which include 1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger 2. Achieve universal primary education 3. Promote gender equality and empower women 4. Reduce child mortality 5. Improve maternal health 6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases 7. Ensure environmental sustainability (including reducing by half the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water) 8. Develop a global partnership for development.
