2016 Volunteer College Coaches - White Plains

Overivew:  Latino U College Access is a college access and success non-profit in Westchester County whose mission is to increase college enrollment and graduation rates among low-income, first generation Latino youth by support students from college exploration and application through college graduation.  As a volunteer at Latino U College Access, you represent the first step in helping our Scholars achieve their college dreams.

Volunteers Matter:  At Latino U College Access our volunteers guide talented, high achieving Latino high school students who are first in their families to attend college, achieve their academic and life potential. It is our volunteers who coach students as they navigate the college process, serve as role models, and expand what is possible. We are currently seeking dedicated individuals who are interested in transforming the lives of young people to join our volunteer team.

Volunteer Opportunities: 

• College Coach: As a College Coach you will work one-on-one with a college bound high school senior supporting her through the college application process. You will assist you Scholar in developing a college list, writing the personal essay statement, completing the Common Application, filling out financial aid forms, and providing the encouragement needed to stay on track and take this monumental step forward. Requirements: college graduate, computer literacy, strong communication skills. To considered: complete on-line application, interview, background check, 4 session training workshop. Time commitment: Participate in training; ability to work with consistently with a student from July 2018 - May 2019.
