Have you ever wanted to help a young person who would like to learn something that you are in a unique position to provide?
Are you willing to share with a child the joy that playing an instrument has brought into your own life?
Do you have time to spend a few hours a week? Saturday mornings? Weekday afternoons?
Are you interested in meeting other teens that are also musical and sharing in the fun that music making with youngsters can bring?
Songcatcher After School Music Program offers lessons on Musical Instruments to children who cannot afford private lessons. Instruments offered depend upon availability of instructors. At this time we offer: piano, violin, guitar, cello, recorder, flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, drums. We also offer art and drama classes.
Training: Volunteer orientations start in September before classes begin. Mentoring from professionals/semi-professionals will be available throughout the year.
Periodic workshops in pedagogy (how to teach) will also be offered occasionally.
